A manual transmission is not required for a road course
but provides a huge advantage over an automatic as you have
complete control over your rev and gear placements.For drag racing an automatic provides an advantage over a 5spd
and his been proven over and over. BUT....there are people like
Zo with a 5pd who run exceptional times. Last video I saw
of him racing he turned an 11.02 pass at over 129mph....so
either works for that apect of driving. Also to note, as guapo said, I too know several people with
automatic cars who later wished they had purchased a car
with a manual transmission. But of everyone with a 5spd, I don't
know of anyone who wishes they had an auto. Take from it what you will....just my $.02
